Here's a little bit of info about our team.


Steve Hallum – President

Steve Hallum started working for his father, Wayne, in 1975 as a night cashier at the first Hallum location in Flagstaff.  Steve learned from the ground up as he has worked in every job associated with the retail part of the business; he has worked as cashier, asst. manager and store manager and with store development as well.  Steve then moved to Phoenix and supervised 3 c-stores in and around Maricopa County.  During that time, Steve also started to wholesale unbranded fuel around the state to companies such as Shepard Brothers and Terrible Herbst.

Eventually Steve moved back to Flagstaff and the main office to work more directly with Wayne.  Over the course of that time, Steve has built, remodeled and upgraded multiple locations throughout Arizona.  Steve has negotiated multiple supply contracts and branding agreements with most of the major oil companies including Chevron, Texaco, ConocoPhillips, VP Racing Fuels, etc.  He has negotiated supply agreements with many different unbranded suppliers throughout the Southwest as well.

Steve has been the lead on many new developments for Hallum, Inc. including the design and construction of new fuel sites and convenience stores.  He takes an active role in the product mix and merchandising at all our company owned stores.  Steve has facilitated the purchase or sale of multiple locations throughout the state of Arizona.   He also has an extensive knowledge of Underground Storage Systems, environmental remediation of sites and working with ADEQ productively.

Steve has served on the Board of Directors for the Arizona Petroleum Marketers Association (APMA) for the last 4 years.  He has also served on the Board of Directors for BBVA Compass Bank for the last 3 years.  Outside of that, he has also served on the Board of Big Brothers and Big Sisters.


David Hallum – Vice President

David started his career in law enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff for five years with the Coconino County Sheriff’s Department.  He also was briefly with the Sedona Police Department as a patrol officer.  David enjoyed being in law enforcement but the family business needed his assistance so he soon followed his father’s lead.

In 1987, David took on the operation of two retail gas stations in and around Flagstaff, AZ.  He also became President of Dana Transportation, Inc. at that time employing and managing more than eight drivers operating four trucks.  David duties consisted of running operations, tank monitoring and dispatching gasoline and diesel fuel deliveries for Hallum, Inc., Little America and various others.  David sold Dana Transportation to Jonesco Leasing in 2002.

Starting in 2000, David joined Hallum, Inc. as Vice President.  David oversees all of Hallum Inc.’s administrative functions which include wholesale operations, dispatching, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, fuel tax reporting, daily store reporting and customer pricing.


Nichole Hallum

Nichole recently joined Hallum, Inc. and has been quite an asset to daily operations with her finance and management background.  Nichole has had an excellent start to her career working as an Accountant and Commodity Trader for Freeport McMoran Copper & Gold, Inc.  She later worked as a Pricing /Yield Management Analyst at US Airways and also in Trade Pricing for APL Limited before joining Hallum, Inc.

Nichole earned a BS in Finance from Arizona State University - 2006 and a MBA from the top rated Thunderbird School of Management - 2012. 

Nichol has settled in Flagstaff and along with her husband, Juan, has started a family and are raising two beautiful young daughters.


James Gregersen – Chief Operations Manager

James started with Hallum, Inc. in 1984 as a graveyard cashier.  Since then, James has progressed from cashier to asst. manager to store manager to his current position of Chief Operations Manager.

Through over 30 years of service to Hallum, Inc., James has been responsible for a multitude of things including: day to day operations of C-Stores, wholesale development and support, customer relations, fuel delivery and dispatching, regulatory compliance with agencies such as EPA, ADEQ, ADOT, AZ Dept. of Weights and Measures as well as many other local, state and federal entities.   He has also been responsible for the re-imaging or the total re-branding process of dozens of facilities.

James has extensive experience in programming Gilbarco POS systems (G-Site, Passport) and with the installation and implementation of back office software systems at our company operated convenience stores.

James has also been key in developing relationships with a multitude of vendors and has always negotiated to have all of our dealer networks included in any special pricing deals or promotions.


Paul Dumas – Wholesale Development

Paul has been with Hallum, Inc. since 2012 and is responsible for all of Hallum’s wholesale business.  He leads Hallum’s sales efforts in the branded and unbranded marketing throughout Arizona and the Southwest.

Paul started in the wholesale fuel business as a marketing rep in Southern California in 1993 primarily selling to retail gas stations and commercial accounts.  He has an extensive amount of experience in supply, transportation and the daily needs of convenience stores operators.

From 2006 – 2012, Paul was the owner/operator of a home remodeling company.  He has a great deal of experience in both the design and construction phases on many different types of remodeling projects.

Paul not only proposes, negotiates and signs up new clients for branding opportunities, he also is responsible for brand re-imaging and with his construction background will lead the installation of any re-imaging work.

Paul earned a BSBA in Small Business Management from Northern Arizona University in 1988.
